A touring gemstone event for industry professionals
The Series
Not a trade show.
A touring gathering.
Gems & Friends travels from city to city, bringing together goldsmiths, jewellers, and gemstone traders in a small, curated setting. No booths. No pitches. Just direct conversations between people who shape stones and people who set them.
Since 2020, we have hosted five editions across Europe — Munich, Hamburg, Cologne, and Copenhagen. Each city gets its own room, its own people, its own character. Berlin is the next stop.
Who This Is For
Industry professionals only.
Gems & Friends is a closed B2B event. We keep it small — 16 to 22 people — so every conversation matters. If you work with gemstones or precious metals, this is your room.
Your Hosts
Two friends. Two sources.
One table.
Dr. Peter Janowski
Ceylons
Munich
Pioneer for fair sapphires.
Fine and fair Ceylon sapphires, fully traceable from mine to market. CEYLONS operates ECOMINE — the world’s first CO₂-neutral gemstone mine in Sri Lanka. Certified by GIA, Gübelin, and SSEF.
Andy Berck
Berckwerk
Hamburg
The best, not the most, out of every stone.
Contemporary gemstone cutting since 2002. Signature designs like the 21st Century Cut, concave cuts, and revived historical techniques. Sourcing from Nigeria, Zambia, Afghanistan, and Idar-Oberstein.

Five Cities and Counting
Where we have been.
Where we are going.
Every edition is different — new city, new room, new people. The format stays the same: a small group, an honest table, and stones worth the trip.
Berlin
USLU TOWER, Berlin Mitte
Rooftop venue with 270° views over Berlin. Our largest edition yet.
Copenhagen
Bernstorff Slot, Gentofte
Our first international edition. Scandinavian goldsmiths met Sri Lankan sapphires in a baroque palace north of Copenhagen.
Cologne
Private atelier
An intimate session in Lower Saxony. Small group, deep conversations about ethical sourcing and contemporary stone cutting.
Hamburg
Berckwerk Studio
Where it started to grow. Andy opened his cutting studio for a full day of gemstone workshops and trade.
Munich
CEYLONS Showroom
The very first Gems & Friends. A handful of goldsmiths, a table full of sapphires, and the idea that this should happen again.
